Here’s How to Lock and Hide Apps on Your iPhone

I will sometimes bring up a YouTube video of a monster truck and give it to my nephew when he requests to view it. However, if I look away from him for even a second, he manages to reply to a spam email in Mail or record a video with my camera.

Apple launched iOS 18, which included a feature that allowed you to lock certain applications on your iPhone. In this manner, you may prevent children and other users from using your programs. To prevent people from being tempted to access them and compromise your privacy, you may even hide certain applications in their own hidden folder. As a result, I can now give my nephew my iPhone without worrying that he would end up in danger.

For further protection, learn how to lock and conceal your iPhone applications. Additionally, you may explore all of the features that iOS 18.5 has added to your iPhone.

How to lock the applications on your iPhone
1. Long-press an application.
2. Select “Need Face ID.”
3. Press Require Face ID one again.

You may prevent your children from purchasing random games or applications by locking App Store apps on your iPhone.
This app now requires your password or Face ID to launch each time you attempt to access it. Not all of your iPhone’s apps can be locked. It is not possible to lock some applications, such as Camera, Find My, and Settings. However, the majority of applications, including those from the App Store, Messages, and third parties, may be locked.

How to make your iPhone applications invisible

Your iPhone’s applications are locked when you hide them. It works similarly to how applications are locked. Remember that not all applications have this option. According to my observations, iOS 18 only allows you to conceal third-party applications like Instagram and Twitter.

Here’s how to make these iPhone applications invisible.

1. Long-press an application.
2. Select “Need Face ID.”
3. Select “Require Face ID” and “Hide.”

After requesting your password or Face ID, your iPhone will ask whether you are certain you wish to hide the app. A new option will show up on your phone that states, “Hiding an app will move it to a Hidden folder in your App Library and remove its name and icon from your home screen.” Additionally, the menu will state that the app won’t be sending you any alerts.

Hidden applications

Whether you conceal nine applications or none at all, the Hidden folder still seems to have apps in it.
Your iPhone will hide the app if you tap Hide App at the bottom of the menu. Swipe right until you’re in your App Library to see your hidden applications. If you scroll to the bottom of the page, you will find a folder named Hidden with a line over it that resembles an eye. Enter your passcode or Face ID after tapping this folder. Your hidden applications will then be visible in the folder.

How to take locks off and unhide them

To remove a lock or unhide an app, long-press on it, choose Don’t Require Face ID, and then input your password or Face ID. Your hidden applications will now be deleted from the Hidden folder, and your locked apps will be unlocked.

Apps are not immediately returned to your home screen after being unhidden. Go to your App Library, long-press an app, then choose Add to Home Screen to bring it back to your home screen.
