As the Academic & Admissions Advisor for Heavener’s Online Team, you will play a crucial role as the first touchpoint and frontline support for our prospective online business students, as well as advise our current online business students. The Opportunity
Key Functions and Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:
Advising
- Provide academic and career advising to online business students via Zoom ©, web, email, and telephone.
- Assist students with identification of academic and career plans, and long-term academic and career goals.
- Monitor academic progress, including probation, honors, and tracking progression through degree requirements.
- Serve as liaison to other key students’ services offices at UF (e.g. UF Online OneStop, Admissions, Registrar, Financial Services, Disability Resource Center, Bookstore) for online business students.
- Utilize UF’s student services databases and student records systems (e.g. myUFL, COMPASS, Canvas).
- Advise online business students within the UF Online Ready student cohort during the fall, spring, and summer terms.
- Create and manage a tracking database for each student in the UF Online Ready cohort.
- Create and implement assessment strategies to strengthen retention within the UF Online Ready Cohort.
- Liaise with faculty of students within the UF Online Ready cohort to ensure ongoing and continued support.
- Collaborate with UF Online and Heavener School of Business (HSB) admissions teams when necessary.
Admissions
- Work closely with Associate Director of Advising & Admissions to coordinate transfer admissions process.
- Utilize applicant management database (SLATE) for application review, decision, and communication to students.
- Collaborate with UF Admissions, UF Online, and UF International Center within SLATE.
- Review UF Online applicants and determine UF Online Ready program eligibility.
- Respond to admissions inquiries via phone, email, and Zoom ©.
- Maintain admissions database and provide periodic, statistical reports to Associate Director of Advising & Admissions.
- Manage admissions information on Warrington College of Business and UF Online websites.
- Travel to local Florida colleges for student recruitment programs, as needed.
- Develop marketing and promotional materials, as needed.
Administrative Tasks | Service | Miscellaneous
- Facilitate and/or participate in regularly scheduled administrative tasks such as online team and Heavener team meetings, quarterly evaluations, and student petition reviews.
- Serve on college level and campus-wide support teams and committees.
- Seek out, facilitate, participate in, and report back on professional development opportunities.
- Assist with overall mission of Warrington College of Business including:
- Teach one or more Warrington Welcome (GEB2015) sections annually.
- Assist with Experiential Learning or HSB programs (e.g. awards banquets, educational sessions, program facilitation)
- Participate in and support various events for online and on-campus business students, including university commencement ceremonies.
- Act as a faculty advisor to online business student organizations when possible.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of the Heavener School of Business, Director of Online Programs, or direct supervisor.
Work Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm EST
- This position is fully remote. Applicant must reside in the Gainesville, Florida area.
- Participation in evening or weekend events as required.

Expected Salary:
$50,000 – $52,500
Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree in education, counseling, or an academic field directly related to the advisor’s area of responsibility and one year of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the field of education, business administration, counseling, psychology, or a related area.
- Previous experience in admissions or college student advising.
- Knowledge of business education.
- Familiarity with Campus Solutions (COMPASS), UF’s system for registration and academic advisement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Zoom, and Canvas.
