The Centre for Continuous Manufacturing and Advanced Crystallisation (CMAC) is a world-class centre of excellence for advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing research, translation to industry and advanced training. Led by the University of Strathclyde, the Centre hosts a high-value collaborative portfolio of research programmes including the EPSRC Future Manufacturing CMAC Hub, Made Smarter Innovation Digital Medicines Manufacturing Research Centre (DM2), UK-RPIF Net Zero Pilot for Medicines Manufacturing Research and EPSRC Digital Design and Manufacture of Amorphous Pharmaceuticals (DDMAP). To deliver our vibrant manufacturing research programme we work in close collaboration with a number of leading UK academic institutions (Bath, Cambridge, Imperial College, Leeds, Loughborough, Sheffield) and link with international centres in the US, Europe and Far East. Established in 2011, CMAC currently comprises over 130 staff and researchers, academics and PhD students. We also continue to grow our Facility team to support and engage a wide user community to benefit from the dedicated facilities in the £90M Technology & Innovation Centre (TIC) building at Strathclyde.
Working closely with our Tier 1 industry partners (UCB, AstraZeneca, Chiesi, Takeda, Lilly, Pfizer and Roche) and others, CMAC’s vision is to transform the development and manufacture of medicines by innovating advanced digital design tools and processing technologies including the development of digital twins, DataFactories and continuous MicroFactories. The four key pillars of CMAC’s programme are to: deliver high quality manufacturing research; develop the workforce of the future through skills development and training; to drive effective translation of research into industry or commercial scale and, to continue to develop our world leading pharmaceutical facilities and Lab of the Future infrastructure.
This post offers an exciting opportunity to join the leadership team assigned to implement CMAC’s business case and growth strategy which focus on strategic collaboration, collaborative research and technical translation working effectively at the academic and industry interface. The Business Development (BD) & KAM Senior Manager will design the business development strategy to deliver industry leading technical translation to Tier 1s and CMAC National Facility strategic partners and end users, engaging, maintaining and growing a sustainable pipeline of industry collaboration and long-term partnerships to support delivery of CMAC’s mid- and long-term strategy and deliver the National Facility business plan and strategic growth.
You will be responsible for development and delivery of industry business engagement and relationship management, Tier 1 Key Account Management (KAM) and non-Tier 1 business, strategic industry partnership and collaboration and expansion of CMAC fee for services revenue through the CMAC National Facility. Reporting to the CMAC Industry Director, other duties will involve, project feasibility assessment, contractual management and pricing strategy, and industry marketing and communications. Also, working in conjunction with the CMAC Director, Executive Group and National Facility Manger to achieve alignment in emerging research capabilities, infrastructure, scheduling, skills and industry engagement strategies and maximise opportunities across CMAC. The post holder will ensure effective and modern design and execution of CMAC’s Strategic Implementation Plan and CMAC National Facility translation activities. The postholder will also own the strategic control of key KPIs designed to drive and monitor the success of business development strategy and its implementation targeting the achievement of a sustainable portfolio of active collaborations.
