A premier global law firm is looking for a highly experienced Business Development specialist to support the firm’s award-winning London-based Antitrust team. This is an excellent opportunity for a business development professional with a strong client focus to take the lead role in one of the firm’s key practice areas with a global remit. You will be joining one of the world’s leading firms for antitrust and competition law. Over the past few years, the practice has achieved a position of market leadership for global antitrust work and is regularly instructed by blue-chip corporates and financial institutions on their most strategic and complex antitrust, competition and regulatory matters. The Antitrust group operates on a cross-practice basis at the nexus of transactional and litigious work, driven by client need for sophisticated and cohesive solutions on a global scale. The successful applicant will lead business development activity globally and provide strategic support for the group. You will be responsible for maintaining the firm’s position as an ‘elite’ firm and trusted adviser on strategic antitrust and competition issues and will be required to build on recent success. You will work with partners and fee-earners to secure global mandates on both a standalone basis and as part of a wider team on high-profile, complex matters; contributing product and market expertise into cross-practice and cross-border pitches to win profitable work from both existing and new clients and to continue to strengthen established client relationships. Driving forward the group’s recently refreshed business plan and specific target actions for key global clients, the role holder will ensure the global team is actively pursuing growth opportunities in markets where further development is forecast and in sectors where it has strengths, as well as those that present further opportunities. Developing new customer products and business development initiatives will also be important elements of this broad and varied role. In addition, the Senior Business Development Manager will lead on the PR and communications plan and develop and continuously refine a programme of events throughout the calendar, both internationally in Brussels and in London, for the purpose of profile-raising and relationship-building. The ideal candidate will have an excellent academic record or equivalent and substantial relevant business development experience gained within a professional services organisation or in the legal sector, where the individual frequently worked with senior management, to include a proven track record of achieving strategic business objectives. Dynamic, professional, proactive, creative and enthusiastic, with great communication skills, the Senior Business Development Manager must have experience of managing and developing the careers of managers and executives. A sophisticated understanding of antitrust and competition law or previous experience practicing in the field would also be highly advantageous.
