Role Purpose:

The Head of Sustainability is responsible for acting as an ambassador for sustainability activities within MAF Retail by developing and implementing the overarching sustainability strategy and programs across the firm.

Role Details – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Environmental Strategy

Devise and support the implementation of the sustainability strategy and all sustainability policies within all business functions

Liaise with MAF Holdings and its other ventures to ensure alignment and synergy of sustainability-related activities

Support the company’s sustainability champions/target owners to achieve MAF Retail’s annual sustainability targets through capacity building and management oversight

Drive positive impact on the environment and stakeholders, e.g. through compliance with ethical standards and international best practice

Performance Management

Coordinate the submission of entries to appropriate industry awards and benchmarking initiatives

Ensure the measurement and board reporting of MAF Retail’s environmental and social KPIs on a quarterly basis

Establish through the sustainability committee the appropriate targets for the following year

Policies and Procedures

Contribute to policy and regulatory developments in the fields of CSR across MAF Retails countries of operation

Maintain awareness of current legislation and market changes relating to sustainability and environmental compliance

Knowledge Sharing and Recommendations

Promote and enable increased internal understanding and participation in the sustainability initiatives through communication and awareness programs

Oversee counselling, coaching, knowledge and awareness in developing a behavioral change and training plan to raise awareness and embed sustainability across the business

Recommend key actions to senior management in order to ensure statutory and industry obligations are met and comply with best practice requirements

Reporting and Communication

Oversee the coordination and publication of MAF Retail’s annual sustainability report, and related communications

Human Capital Responsibilities

Ensure the implementation of the performance management process

Provide mentorship for the purpose of developing a continuous talent pipeline for key roles

Identify training needs and coordinate with the HC department to ensure facilitation of training requirements

Oversee the development and implementation of on the job-training

Ensure constant availability of the required competent staff to support the organization in meeting all its responsibilities, plans, and objectives

Provide inputs while developing MAF Retail’s corporate policies and relevant procedures, and monitor the implementation

Personal Characteristics and Required Background:

Minimum Qualifications/education

Bachelor Degree in Business Administration or equivalent field

MBA is preferred

Minimum experience

10+ years developing and managing a CSR / sustainability strategy in a customer driven industry

6-8 years of experience in retail / luxury hospitality / government organization in GCC preferred

Good problem solving skills

High attention to detail
