Job title: UK Business Development Manager

Job description: The BDM will primarily be responsible to develop relationships with owners and decision makers that own/manage large dairy operations (over 400 cows). To accomplish this, the BDM will need to work closely with WWS UK Genetic Consultant team & marketing staff to identify target new clients. The BDM will need to plan for specific business development trips and industry events that maximize exposure for prospect interactions.
Steps of Business Development contact:
1. Communicate with WWS UK Genetic Consultant team, sales managers & marketing staff to determine potential client targets.
2. Establish contact with prospect decision makers.
3. Discovery on potential needs and opportunities utilizing decision-maker discovery interviews and data discovery.
4. Communicate with WWS staff on what was learnt during discovery and discuss implications.
5. Develop a next step plan utilizing resources available.
6. Prepare proposal and next contact steps to dairy decision makers.
Target Prospects:
- Dairy operations that exceed 400 cows.
- Dairy operations with limited to no current WWS business and limited current interest and prefer in working Business to Business (B to B) with genetic suppliers.
- Focusing on herds that have their own in-house repro management team.
Business Goal:
- Develop new business relationships with key dairy owner prospects, to sell Dairy & Beef Genetics, potentially combined with Genomic testing & Cow Manager.
- Develop relationships with dairy & beef processors to allow access to dairy & beef integrated supply chains.
- To provide technical support in conjunction with the Genetic teams in large scale dairy units.
WWS Marketing Insights:
The BDM will also be asked to provide insights to the WWS Management team to help position WWS marketing communications, training initiatives, product, and services development to help position WWS & Select Sires as a leader in serving large, progressive dairy operations worldwide.
Administration:
The BDM should effectively implement and adhere to policies, programs and directives of WWS.
- Business plan – An annual business plan should be developed in conjunction with the UK Management team, that is complete with administration, detailed description, and financial budgets to assure that the Business Development Program exceeds budget expectations.
- Actively participate in decision making and take ownership of the company objectives.
- Accurately complete and submit travel and expense reports within the company guidelines.
- Utilize good judgement on travel costs and travel time to maximize effectiveness of time management.
- Utilize good judgement in care and maintenance of company assigned property.
Communication:
Develop and maintain professional and effective relationships with Genetic Consultants, management, Global Dairy Solutions team, customers, and prospects. Represent WWS in a manner consistent with the company’s mission statement, core values statement and strategic plan.
- Provide weekly overview reports of contacts with prospective and current customers as well as an overview of short term planning to the UK General Manager.
- Provide timely responses to email, voicemail, and text requests.
- Create and maintain effective working relationships with customers, prospects, the WWS team via professional and respectful interactions.
- Assume accountability for complete customer satisfaction.
