This is an exciting and challenging time for learning and organisational development (L&OD) in Kirklees. L&OD has a vital role to play in achieving our shared Kirklees outcomes through supporting and developing great people with the right skills, values and behaviours. The L&OD Business Support Manager plays a crucial role in the effective running of our L&OD service.

The role

As Business Support Manager you will deliver an effective, flexible, and responsive business support service for our corporate learning & organisational development function.

You will be responsible for ensuring effective and appropriate systems are developed, implemented, maintained, and monitored to support the work of the L&OD service – with a particular responsibility for working with My Learning, the council’s Learning Management System (LMS).

We’re looking for someone with experience of providing business support services in a large organisation and effective staff management skills. You will be able to demonstrate that you have the appropriate knowledge, experience and ability to undertake the key requirements of this role and work effectively with colleagues in the corporate Learning & Organisational Development (L&OD) team and across the council.

The focus

This role is part of the corporate L&OD team within People Services and has a specific focus on delivering business support within an L&OD context. Your duties will include:

  • Developing, maintaining and providing effective management information from My Learning, the council’s Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Line managing the Business Support Officers within the L&OD team
  • Managing L&OD business support workflow and prioritising work
  • Dealing with financial information and providing monitoring for our L&OD budget
  • Liaising with colleagues across the council to support corporate L&OD provision
