The Contracts and Business Development Manager for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible is to support Beckman Coulter managed services from pre to post tender and through to contract end. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the role is primarily responsible for identifying third party suppliers, obtaining effective tender offers, negotiating, providing contractual documentation and ultimately ensuring BCUK wins managed service business.

The successful person will also have responsibility for the third party delivery once a contract has been put in place, monitoring third party supplier performance against an agreed set of measures and then holding the supplier to those measures. They will also be required to manage change control throughout the life cycle of a managed service contract, execute exit strategies where appropriate and ensure that BCUK meets its retention targets.

This position is part of the Customer Operations Department located in High Wycombe, UK and will be Field Based. At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.

You will be a part of the Managed Services Team within Commercial Services and report to the Managed Services Team Manager responsible for supporting Beckman Coulter and third-party suppliers, exceeding customer expectations with operational and financial performance. The role requires ability to travel across UK & Ireland and therefore a driving license is required. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • To provide contract management expertise to Beckman Coulter UK and assist in development of sound commercial processes that meet corporate/business areas goals and metrics.
  • To use contract and finance structures in compliance with business objectives, utilising contractual templates and service levels for third party suppliers and where necessary draft contract documents.
  • To establish effective stakeholder management both internally and externally.
  • To support the Business Manager in large Pan Pathology Managed Services with tender bids that include third party products and services, working toward being responsible for smaller managed services bids where appropriate to meet or exceed sales targets.
  • To manage performance and financial statistics for both Beckman Coulter and sub-contractors and investigate all opportunities to control and drive down costs, whilst pursing continual improvements in performance.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • An understanding of the current Pathology market place, suppliers and NHS networks in the UK and Ireland.
  • Experience in supplier management, high level negotiation, contract management and contractual change management within a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of managed services in a diagnostics/science based environment with the ability to create, negotiate and use sound contractual documentation.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to present to a variety of audiences.
  • Sound financial analysis capabilities.
  • High level of Microsoft Excel knowledge and ability to use business management systems including Microsoft word, PowerPoint, access, SharePoint and Oracle

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Ability to “think out of the box” and express creative thinking and innovative ideas.
  • Crucial conversation and objection handling
  • Sales training/experience
