Job description: About this Role
As the Senior Technical Delivery Manager within the IPO’s DDaT (Digital Data and Technology) Data department, you will be responsible for driving the timely delivery of data-related products and services across multiple programmes and / or work streams using agile ways of working. You will work with multi-disciplinary teams including Data Engineers, Service Owners, Data Governors, Testers, Designers, Data Architects, Operational Support engineers, DBAs, Management Information / Business Intelligence specialists and Business Subject Matter experts. Additionally, you will be required to matrix manage people in some of these roles.
You will be part of the IPO Chief Data Office Function which is responsible for the delivery of new data products and services and their ongoing operational management. You will be part of a wider programme of work within DDaT, with each Service Squad having its own backlog and roadmap of work that forms part of the holistic delivery.
Person Specification
- Experienced Delivery Manager / Scrum Master with proven background in running cross functional agile teams. Experience of agile methodologies including SCRUM, Kanban, knowledge of DevOps.
- Experience of leading teams delivering componentised solutions as part of a wider programme of delivery.
- Evidence of communicating effectively across the wider organisation, understanding differing stakeholders for example technical/non-technical and political boundaries, understanding the context.
- Extensive background in providing accurate, timely information on progress, resourcing, and impediments to allow informed decision making
- Evidence of having empowered technical teams to develop both personal and technical skills when delivering flexible new technologies to ensure that the team is constantly learning.
- Experience of leading technical delivery teams utilising automated delivery methodologies including automated development pipelines, automated testing, operations etc.
- Ability to Influence, both inside the Digital, Data and Technology department, and across the organisation.
- Demonstrable experience producing high value Project Delivery MI.
Working Style
This role will be carried out in-line with IPO Hybrid working arrangements where staff are currently expected to attend the office 1 day per week, or equivalent if part-time, on-site at our Newport office.
However, we recognise this is a hard to fill role and would encourage candidates to discuss working arrangements with the recruiting manager to agree a reasonable balance between working from home and the office
